Acts 9:5
“Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked.
In bible study we have been studying the book of Romans and its author Apostle Paul. From these studies of Paul and the book of Romans, I received new levels of understanding of God. I pray this new understanding resonates deeply in your spirit, as it did mine.
God commands our attention through experiences. He allows things to happen in our lives to produce a need. Once that need is present, we first reach out to all people and all things; soon realizing no one can save us but Him. When I was going through a tough life experience, I looked up to find many of the people that I reached out to were unavailable. These were the people that I KNEW above all others would show up for me. Yet, I was left very saddened because simply, they didn’t. At times, God causes the people closest to us to be unavailable to us because He doesn’t want them to come to our aid; He wants us to rely solely on Him. I became hurt and angered by the absence of the people closest to me but I now realize much of why they could not be there was because God did not want them there. God wanted to save me.
When this happens, when substances, habits, patterns and people don’t help, we eventually turn to Him. Once we turn to Him and realize the only person, place or thing that can save us is Him, He shows Himself strong. He heals, provides, saves, restores, redeems and fills up. Once God reveals Himself to us in this way we begin to come into intimacy with Him, we come into relationship with Him; our eyes, heart and ears are fully aware of the truth that He is alive and still working. From there we have a history with Him, we begin to know His character and what He’s capable of. We begin to realize that the fulfillment of all our needs can be found in Him. We begin to realize that the answers we have been searching for, for years is in Him. We begin to realize that THEE answer is Him.
God does these things to get our attention. These unthinkable occurrences that cause us such great pain. These things that make us cry out “Why God”. These things are not happening TO us but FOR US! God destined heart break to get my attention. I am thankful every day that I did not miss that divine call.
In Acts 9, when Saul hears the call from Jesus that changed the trajectory of his life and his name, he knows instantly who is calling him. Although he asks the question, “who are you”, he refers to Jesus as “Lord” before Jesus identifies himself.
Some people miss that call, that pull. Don’t miss that call! Don’t waste your pain. You may as well get some type of glory out of it. God’s glory.
Maybe you’re thinking, “Well I already know God. I already accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior.” Even if you know Him. He may be pulling you to go deeper with Him. Some seasoned Christians come to a place of arrogance where they believe they know all they need to know about God’s character and sovereignty. But there are deeper levels He is calling us to. Deeper understanding, deeper understanding of His love, deeper understanding of His power, deeper understanding of His character. Even if you know Him. He could be pulling you to go deeper with Him. Don’t miss the pull! Don’t miss the call!
You simply need to be in this position.
“Yes Father”
Until next time..
I wish you
Love & Happiness
